.Search Agreements

Many organizations turn to search firms such as ours to supplement internal recruitment efforts. In this business, we are the acting people experts. We specialize in finding, understanding, counseling and directing executives within the healthcare industry.

When you decide to engage with The Sexton Group, there are several agreement formats to select from depending on your needs.

Retained Search:

Sixty Percent of our executive searches are Retained. Under these terms, The Sexton Group is designated as the exclusive firm permitted to recruit and submit candidates for a position within a specific time frame.

  • 1/3 of the fee (based on annualized salary) is paid upfront to secure our services

  • 1/3 is paid when candidates are interviewed

  • 1/3 (plus or minus the difference between the initial and offered salary) is paid when a candidate is hired. 

Exclusive Contingent:

Thirty Percent of our searches are Contingent under exclusive terms. The client agrees to work exclusively with The Sexton Group for a set time frame.

  • A fee based on a percentage of the offered salary is paid if a candidate presented through The Sexton Group is hired. 

  • In addition, the hospital can continue their search too and in the event a candidate is identified and hired through their own efforts, no fee is owed to The Sexton Group.

Contingency:

Ten Percent of our searches are under Contingency terms. The client agrees to let The Sexton Group recruit and present candidates free of charge.

  • If a candidate presented by The Sexton Group is hired, the client agrees to pay a fee based on a percentage the annualized salary.

Steering The Sexton Group through success is career recruiter Jonathan Sexton. Since 2005, Jonathan has worked on executive searches for large non-for-profit, for-profit, academic, independent, and integrated health systems nationwide.

Over his 18 year career, Jonathan has built lasting relationships with Executives and Hospital Administrators across the country. When working with your team, Jonathan gets to know C-Suite leaders, board members and other staff involved with the vacant position. As the builder and representative of The Sexton Group, Jonathan can provide an introductory presentation to interested organizations in order to distinguish his company and his team from other agencies. We personally subject all interested candidates to a 50-question screening process and walk through their resume with them to fill in any gaps, understand the reasons behind any job changes, and learn about the intangible aspects of their professional and personal experiences that may not be shared on paper.

Is It Worth It?

Our Process

We will schedule time to meet with the leadership team, board members and other staff involved in the hiring process. An account manager at The Sexton Group will be the primary contact for your organization and we expect to have one or two designated people within the hospital’s leadership team with whom we will interact with for questions, submittals, feedback, and scheduling.

We believe in maintaining open and thorough communication with our clients in order to guide candidates through the process effectively and avoid mistakes or misunderstandings.

Once we have all the details about your organization and the position requirements, we will begin to source from our national network of executives. Because you have retained us, your position is a high priority.

Once we have identified candidates who match the experience and motivation for the position we will present resumes to the designated contact for review. Accompanying the resume submittal will be a detailed summary of the candidate’s experience, pertinent personal details, reasons for job changes, motivation for the position, and salary information.

By being thorough in our screening process and providing detailed information in the beginning, we aim to provide you with the necessary information for you to get candidates of interest through the interview process more efficiently and help you provide a fair offer if the candidate gets to that stage.

We will assist with interview scheduling, transportation arrangements, reference checks, and offer negotiations.
